There's a big difference between "milking" a franchise, and extending it.
Halo 4,5,6 are all part of a new trilogy, that is directly related to the Forerunner. As a fan of the STORY of Halo, this excites me to no end.
The new Gears game is rumored to be a prequel, during the Pendulum wars. Again, a great story never told.
CoD milks it's franchises because it's literally more of the same. Even AC has a rich story...
Not "one of"...I've maintained for 17 years that FFVI is simply the best GAME ever released. What it accomplished 17 years ago eclipses what some games accomplish now, with better tech, and larger teams.
I am yet to play a game that matches the overall quality, or experience, that was FFVI.
I don't get it. I mean, I don't care at all if you use exploits (I have an exploit-only character), but why would you consider THIS any less of an exploit than Oghma Infinium?
If anything, this is just a bad exploit, in that it doesn't work as fast, but it's still OBVIOUSLY an exploit, in that it's not the way the game was intended to be played.
Stick to Oghma Infinium guys.
But at what cost? I could avoid the texture problem by simply playing from disc. The new problems can't be avoided if patched.
Also, I said his point was moot...not that I didn't read the article.
I don't offer an opinion unless I've read the subject matter.
"Goes back". Again...why would someone play a sequel FIRST? You don't watch Empire before New Hope. You don't play Halo 2 before Halo CE. That's just stupid. There's no other word for it.
The kind of people who do that have no respect for the lore that goes into gaming. Someone like that has an absolutely irrelevant opinion when it comes to the game franchise they are writing about.
AND...if he went back and played CE and h...
LMAO! PC gaming is cheaper? That's hilarious.
A PC capable of running BF3 on optimal settings would run about 2 grand. That's being generous.
My console cost 400. Two copies of BF3 (the second of which I will likely never buy anyway, as graphics aren't as important as gameplay) would cost me 120 bucks. That's assuming it costs 60 for the re-release, which it probably wouldn't.
So, 2 grand, is cheaper than 520?
"I started playing Halo with Halo 2".
Everything after this line is moot because of it. I understand that not everyone was old enough to play CE when it initially launched, but why would ANYONE, ESPECIALLY a journalist, EVER play a sequel (a true sequel, anyway) without playing the ones that came before it.
The top 5 maps in the Halo franchise came from CE...it's honestly not even really debatable.
Ah. ORIGINAL article was posted yesterday, just not to N4G.
Ummmmm...it's available today for XBL as well. I downloaded it about an hour ago.
Comments like this one are exactly why they WON'T be killable, and probably shouldn't be.
You just compared a digital recreation of a child to kids in a real live videogame lobby. Your comment insinuates that you want to kill the kids you hear with squeaky voices when you are playing CoD.
While they annoy me, killing them is never the thought that goes through my head.
The worst part of this situation isn't the exclusion of Porsche in Forza 4...it's that it will start a trend that will hurt ALL racing games.
EA has drawn a line in the sand, and now Turn10 will have no (financial) choice but to stop allowing EA to use Ferrari. Before you know it, all of these racing games are going to be stripped of this brand, or that brand.
Sad, EA.
Everyone makes such a big deal about these NPD numbers...I don't get it.
The 3DS dropping 50% is the only interesting thing to note. Of course it sold more than the other systems...it's the cheapest of the "new" systems.
PS3 was bound to outsell 360's, as it's CHEAPER. It's what I don't get about the console manufacturers...the cheapest system ALWAYS sells the most. Nothing surprising in these numbers at all.
That's fair. The article just comes off a little "anti-EA, pro-Activision". Your arguments are absolutely fair, justified...They just don't come across the way I think you intended.
Sorry, but that's not the two of them together on the carriage.
#1: Altair is from roughly 400 years before Ezio. Yes, I know the pieces of eden could have aged him more slowly, but not 400 years...
#2: It's simply not Altair on the carriage. It's Ezio, and what appears to be commoner.
Too bad, cause having them fight side by side WOULD be at least kind of cool...
Is the write of this piece a blind CoD fanboy? I only ask, because, well...you do realize that Activision's CEO, Bobby Kotick, threw the first insult months ago...
Granted, they seem to have backed off, and begun being a little more PC while EA seems to have ramped up it's attacks, but that's moot. Point is, you are attacking EA as if they started this word war.
Do some research, bud.
Heads-up to the article poster: The embargo doesn't lift for another 9 hours. You might want to take this down.
Has the writer even played the game? If not, he should really hold his opinion.
I played it at E3, and while it needed a little polish (we were playing pre-alpha), the game was nothing short of phenomenal.
Yes. It is a mix of condemned and L4D. Personally, I felt that L4D lacked substance. DI did not. A huge open world, Nuka got it right when he said it was more Borderlands. Honestly, I didn't like that game much either, but it seems to have tak...
How did I get owned? I see the difference between 30 and 60. Like I said, I never said there wasn't a difference.
But if you put two videogames in front of me, one at 30 and one at 60 with a LOT more going on on the screen than a simple bouncing block, MOST people won't notice it. The difference is minor.
Now, if you want to talk about the difference between 15 and 60, or even 15 and 30, then you'll have a great argument. But 30 and 60? N...
Most of what you said is spot-on...HOWEVER...
If you think we won't see the next xbox until 2014, you are crazy. It, and the next PS, will launch holiday of 2013.
Secondly, MS can't just abandon the hardcore crowd. Very soon, the mobile platform is going to finish off the handheld market, but I think by the second year of the next gen, people will tire of casual stuff on their consoles when they can get it for cheaper, easier, on their phones/pads...
