So let's sum up:

-PS3 releases in Japan, and retailers are allowed open pricing so most places sell both units at below what would be MSRP, and continue vigorously slashing the 20GB model because it's not selling. The 30GB's trade-in value quickly plummets below the 360's trade-in value at many Japanes retailers because it's so unwanted.

-PS3 releases in Europe a year behind Kutaragi's initial promise of a worldwide Spring 2006 launch, sells a lot of units based ...

Oh no! The character is standing ten feet from the camera, in half-dark, and you see slightly less detail than usual! Microsoft is so evil this game will suck! Heh.

Yes, the overall detail looks toned down (they're standing in a square hallway, for pete's sake, when most screens have magnificently bright colors and explosions going on- take it in stride, people) but Shepherd's face has always had a screwed-up look where his eyes and mouth were too jagged, teh shadows on his fac...

You gotta remember, this "worldwide" launch is now roughly 2 nations- US and Japan. So the 500k isn't THAT bad...

Because rendering a whopping 2-3 units onscreen at once is so massive compared to, say, Chromehounds' 24? Yeah, super-good-looking character models are easy to do when there's a handful of them and there's no actual gameplay going on.

But it's good to see this title is shaping up- it was a laughing stock for quite a while- but there's still the question of whether it will suck. Gundam games do have a tendancy to do that, regardless of potential awesomeness. Please, please let t...

Eerily equal for such vastly different technologies. Is there really any way to tell 360 shots from PS3 shots at this point? Oh, yeah, by the smell of $200.

Yeah, sorry. That was a cheap shot. Anyway, I do hope Sony really is "holding back". It's also possible (though unlikely) that they really are just being low-key for some reason.

Oh, so it's not that GT:HD was a laughably unimpressive demo that was one of the crowning problems with Sony's e3 showing, it's that GT:HD is not the true successor in the series. Oooohhh, I get it now. Heh.

GT just lacks innovation. Damage modeling has NEVER made it to the game. The cars all still handle terribly stock and almost always HAVE to be modified to be drivable and feel like their real-world couterparts despite this game climing to be a "sim". 2d backdrops ...
