It's funny, when people used to say they wanted to play games for a living, the only real option was as a tester. Now you actually CAN - it's just about as likely as getting a job in the NBA or other pro sports league.
It at least gives players something to aspire to and work for. Having the possibility exist is likely to encourage more pro gaming interest at the least.
I think they did a good job of discussing games that didn't have much of a plot and did it right, as well as games that should really have picked it up in the story dept.
Most of my favorite games have stories, but they are ones you can encounter as you wish to (like Oblivion Elder Scrolls), not paths you're forced to follow.
