Can't stand Windows 8 on my PC, the metro UI doesn't work with a KB+M (well technically it does, but it's not good at all). I'll stick with Windows 7 on my desktop. Windows 8 will be great on mobile touch devices though.
Also, how is the 360 in anyway similar or on par with your average PC gaming desktop?

Karkand sucks, cluster ala Metro (which I knew from BF2) the other 3 are fun but 2 of those have been altered.

Only if they utilise what DX11 offers. If they just use the DX11 API and stop there, all you'll get is a performance boost over DX9.
But using the DX11 API does allow you to do a lot of extra things, so here's hoping they properly utilise it.

The Metro UI is great on mobile devices etc, but I had the opportunity to test it on a desktop computer and it's really bad for KB+Mouse setups. I think most PC users will stick with W7, but yeah - Metro UI definitely has its place on the mobile side of things.
Carmack did say that the consoles get utilised much more because of the low level programming they can do, which is impossible to do for PC because of all the different configurations, hence the API. But a different OS wouldn't fix that.
Proves again that consoles are just absolutely shit.
By making "expansions" they get an unfortunate excuse to milk each one for $15.
