The earliest we will see a new PlayStation console is 2020. What Sony doesn't want to do is release a brand-new console while the PS4 is still selling well. Also, Sony's E3 conference always focuses on 3-4 AAA exclusive titles, then has AAA titles from third-parties, then focuses on smaller games and indies. This isn't really out of the ordinary.
