Hmmm I guess the author didn't see the upcoming psvr games shown at E3. Games like MOSS for example. Or how Devs like Bethesda and capcom have enough faith in the hardware to make or remake their best games for VR. you can't tell me your gaming soul doesn't yearn for skyrim VR. Or how awesome resi 7 was in VR though a bit flawed in execution.

Iam Huge fan of doom. Even bought the doom movie with the rock lol. My beef with the latest doom is that I didn't like the arena feel of the levels. You walk into an area kill a few waves of demons rinse and repeat. It didn't have that exploratory feel like the original. For instance if you got swarmed by demons in the original you could run away all the way to the beginning if you felt like it. I think the beauty of the necro shows up later after fully upgrading the powers. In the beginning this character appears very dull. But people love the character for a reason.
The game captures the feel of the original perfectl. updates everything that made the original good and makes them even better. This is how doom should have been done.
I hope Atari has been keeping a close eye on the industry, and has learned enough to not make the same mistakes. Great potential here if done right. Now all we need is a sega comeback.
I can't see n64 having the same success. Those early days of polygon graphics were hideous to look at. And only a handful were worth playing. Rare did the most impressive work on that's system. But the games did not all age well. Go play perfect dark and see what I mean. Sprites age better than polygons. If anything a sega genesis mini would make a killing. When I think of all the resources wasted on a semi upgrade instead of a true successor I feel a bit perturbed but mostly disturbed.
I don't believe MS holding anything back. Rift and Vive are doing well with lots of games on steam to support the device not to mention hentai games and porn. Sony is holding it down with the entry level PSVR as well. From my perspective VR is alive and well and pushing forward at an increasing pace.
