times change. Nintendo needs to break with their history and adapt. simple.
Sorry but the fact systems from sega and ms or nintendo sold less than less powerful systems is completely irrelevant. PS2 did not become the massive success it was just because it was WEAKER technically? it would have been just as successful with powerful hardware. Only cost/price to customer comes into question then. Nobody said nintendo had to massively leapfrog sony/ms by making a system that cos...
Mainly a launch lineup? hah! Compare what sony does to support their consoles throughout their lifespan. TLOU? GT6?
Halo is dull
Fable is weary
Forza 5 is bad (for next gen)
the rest are sub par sub HD sub 60fps (sub 30fps) in many cases. Please don't look desperate. It's clear PS4 has already won 'next gen' even on DAY ONE.
Great days. Well done SONY.
Can't wait for the games that await us over the next 5 years or so... :)
SHORT. SIGHTED. VIEW.
this debate has gone on for years. Just because they would have the capability for photorealism, i.e a 'real' feeling battlfield game - doesn't mean EVERY game has to look like reality. You can still have fantasy environments but just with far more imagination and clarity.
We will get there eventually, if we'd stopped striving for that we'd still be on the Atari VCS. Technology always drove videogames and that will ne...
We do - but I'd say there was a shift between mid 90s 3D (playstation 1) and Crysis mid 2000s PC graphics. Since then it's not really had that massive boost.
Real time ray tracing, VR.. all that is going to add to it but it definitely will sooner or later need a massive revolutionary shot in the arm graphics wise or we are just retreading shinier water. The way we interact too is vital (Oculus rift and great controllers) - no more FPS controlled by analog sticks in 10...
Get rid of Wii-U. DROP the "WII" name it's time has come and gone. Make a NEW console every bit as, if not more, powerful than the PS4 and brand it as not competing with the Wii. Allow the best multiformat games to shine on the system due to having the horsepower for that, hit it with stellar Ninty first party games that aren't playing catch up technology wise as the Wii generation was.
Give it a decent name, don't aim it at children/housewives, make eve...
would rather no shoddy port. Would prefer a fully developed GT7 with a 'game centric' overhaul for PS4 built from the ground up. A mind blower, not a leaf blower.
GT6 is great on PS3 - GT7 will be amazing on PS4!
exactly same here.
It's true. and one of the reasons I cancelled my PS4 pre order and will wait to pick one up next year when there are a few cheap second hand games and lots of new GOOD exclusives.
Xbone doesn't even exist to me though.
PS3 turned out to be an amazing console and so well supported even towards the end of it's lifespan. Go SONY!
no. just... no.
they mean on CONSOLE. New to 'next gen' is 64 players.
Three reasons I'll always play BF on PC - better graphics, better controls, less/no idiots talking crap on mics.
don't know what's on the list - not gonna read, but for me 3 games did it. PGR3, Dead Rising 1, Gears of War. Then my 360 RROD without warranty and before MS admitted to it being their fault, so it went in the bin sadly (with ana chip fault too!) - then moved to PS3 which is still going fine.
agreed - and my 360 died many years ago but I'll always love the memories of DR1
THIS was the only game back at E3 that actually made my jaw drop, and I already thought it was announced for PC way back (Obv was mistaken) but if not I'll get it on PS4 next year when I get one, think I'd prefer it on PC though if it looks even better because I'm a massive NYC fan!! :)
This is actually the game I'm now most interested in 'next gen' whether it's on PC or PS4, if it ends up as good as we think, it will be MINE!!
I can. I paid £30 for my physical copy (PC) and it's still not fully functional.
GREAT game underneath the bugs though.
True!!
I have great memories of gaming on:
Atari VCS
Spectrum
Amiga
SNES
GAMEBOY
PS1
GAMECUBE
XBOX360 (till it RROD - my ONLY console to ever die!)
PS3 (own two of these puppies)
DS
and of course PC (since 1998) - and the PC brought a lot of amazing memories as it pushed tech, the original Unreal, Quake 3, Half life 1/2, Crysis and way too much...
but still Playst...
MANY great memories.
I'd been gaming since the atari vcs - through the zx spectrum and onto the amiga then snes. I have great memories of all of those systems (not so much the VCS lol but nostalgia I was a small kid)
however PLAYSTATION changed everything! 3D, CD-Rom (not the first but great to have it), great controller, good games. It changed the industry and instantly made it a LOT cooler to be into games. Playstation added massively to the industry an...
yep basically what I just said :) and I agree. We were fighting this battle 10 years ago.. 20 years ago. And many of those who 'we' used to fight with (the elders, and a lot of females who previously weren't into gaming) now enjoy angry birds on their iPads... so. Many of them saw the light (kind of) and the rest will be dust long before gaming is.
THIS is my true 'next gen'. Consumer version can't come soon enough.
Wii is a name that alienates a lot of people. Fact. it's a stupid name by any objective measure. And they DO change names - they used to - every time they released a new system? where have you been? were you born in 1995 or something?? Nintendo only kept the name once - and the Wii U is the result. Arguably their greatest failure when it comes to their mainstream consoles. NES, SNES, N64, GAMECUBE, Wii... NEW NAME HERE PLEASE!
Playstation is a 'cool' brand synonym...
