The ONLY thing that's stopping handhelds from being completely destroyed is the fact that phones don't have proper controlls yet.
When they do, devs will flock to phones and it'll be the end of handhelds.
Sony knows this, that's why they created PS Mobile.
After the Vita (or next year, whichever comes first), Sony will create their own phone, so they created PS Mobile to have a huge headsta...
In ten years time the weakest smartphones will be four or five times more powerful than the Vita is now, and the better phones will probably rival the next gen consoles (PS4, XBOX720).
