CES was shown at 6.30pm pst, in the UK that is 2.30am. In essence when most people in the US are getting back from work and ready to play some videogames, well in the UK, we are fast asleep. In japan they will be at work because it would be 11.30am.
How on earth do they expect everone to be online at the sametime?
@ Below: And how is 2.2 million, at any given tme bad?IMO that is an amazng figure. Just because you can play games all day does not mean that everybody ha...
Not a good idea IMO.SO what your saying is that, those games that do use 100% of the xenon chip won't be able to look that way if running on Natal. This performance impact was one of my problems with the Sony wand and it seems Natal is going to be the same. Slowly loosing interest in this devce.
good job microsoft.
Never said it was the best RTS but the best that I HAD PLAYED. My statement ain't rocket science.
ANd as for ODST, it was priced at £29,99 in the UK, £10 - £15 less than a full priced game so it was worth it for me.And pls keep uncharted and your list of PS3 exclusives out of this article.
@ STICKzophrenic: well said and have a bubble.
Over 300,000 copies in two moths is a great feat in the UK.
I taught ODSTs campaign was very good, even better than Halo 3. As for Halo Wars, think its a great game and the best RTS i have played. I still play the game alot, played it this morning and there were 6,950 players online.ANyway, can't wait for Reach.
why do so called hardcore gamers paint casual gamers as idiots?
@ Below: I did read your article and it was full of speculation. But let me tell you something, nobody knows exactly what the casual gamer wants apart from the casual gamers themselves because they are one hell of an unpredictable bunch. ANother suggestion will be to to have given your article a suitable title that mirrors exactly what is in the content. like say 'Natals very steep road ahead'.
yes i have heard of GT5 and will be buying it whenever it comes out but i have not heard anything about GT5 having a 240fps physics engine, custom paintjobs and individual tunes and builds for each car. Please enlighten me of these specs if i am wrong.
Maybe because that is what the devs want to reduce chances of a race turning into Forza: destruction derby 3. Also how many racing games do you know with more players run at 60fps, have super-realistic physics, load and render customized paintjobs, tunes and builds for each player and look as good as Forza 3 does.
To be honest, what have you gained from running with more than 10 or so players in a racing game. I think some people are just feature whores. They just like to be a...
frontlines fuel of war is 54 players.
@ pirate thom: you are so wrong. L4D and Forza3 also use dedicated servers.
So your now calling Chart Track fake?
Forza 3 really seems to be doing well.
Not really. It's Microsofts japanese arm Freeplus that is doing most of the development " Mizuguchi's Q Entertainment is involved, although the bulk of development will be handled by Feelplus, Microsoft Game Studios' Japanese outfit." http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
It has a new developer this time, so lets see it will turn out to be a better game. But do like the 2 player co-op idea.
No drinking for me thank you.
Nice list.
"Don Mattrick, senior VP of Microsoft’s interactive entertainment business, says that the company has no intention of ditching traditional controller-based games following the unveiling of its motion sensing Project Natal.
“I think we’ve got the best thumb-based controller ever created,” Mattrick told Edge. “We’re not going to take anything away."
"“Think, you could be playing a game with a controller and have your character react when you instinctivel...
It's quie shocking that it is taking them so long to impliment such an obviously good idea to begin with. Why every single device under the Microsoft entertainment and devices division does not sync simlessly with one another is really silly.Well as they say, better late than never.
What he means is, imagine a game like Mass Effect being played with Natal. Your a character with biotic powers and you want to use your LIFT ability, instead hitting RB, pausing the game and selecting it from the circle wheel, you simpy lift your right hand mimicing shepards action. Same for, force push, barrier and as of Mass Effect 2, trust both hands forward (while holding the controller) to do the dash move. Fluid combat without ever pausing the game.
In the right hands, thi...
My taughts exactly. With the PS3 taking a full spu overhead penalty when using the wand, t would be damn difficult to make Uncharted 2 like games for the PS3. This would have been Microsofts chance to level the playing field.
and you see this phrase "but while taking a "percentage" of performance away from the system, most games don't use up 100 per cent of the available processing power anyway." Where have i heard something like that before? Oh... i remember....
