Sony probably has control of video games under a certain franchise. Avengers belong to the franchise called "Marvel's" where Sony has control over Spider-Man character.

The problem with this game is the forced coop. It was announced in a time during single player is dead narrative and the develooers needed to add some multiplayer garbage. If Platinum want to revive the game, then they need to reboot it with a focus on single player. Also this game could benefit from being semi-open world as it already shows large open enviriment.
