PS3 sells movies too. Profit probably goes to another Sony division, but it's money earned by PS3 anyway.
Is there such a thing? Because there are other entertainment media in addition to games, that a console owner might purchase. For example, because I use PS3 as a Blu-ray player too, I bought several BDs. Yeah, they are half price of the games, but they certainly brought some money to the publisher and Sony.

It seems to me that Blu-Ray offers higher increase in picture quality than DVD did.

They make good quality product and they should be rewarded. But I get your point. In the same fashion, I selfishly wish that Linux remains a niche OS, thus not becoming attractive for virus, adware, spyware makers, hackers etc.

Future Shop in Canada has more Blu-Ray players (10) listed than DVD players (9). OK, not counting portable DVD players.
