I have a few friends like you, they never touch the online portion of games. Their reason is because there's too many people that play way too much and own everyone with ease.
I'm guilty for playing COD4 too much and being one of the crazy people online. But when it comes to something like NHL 09 online team play, I'm one of the teams losing 5-0, even though I consider myself pretty good offline. I still play online NHL though.
