El_Colombiano is mistaken. From Software were the lead developers for the game, with assistence from Sony Japan. Also, you really can't say that the concept of the game belongs in any way to Sony, as Demon's Souls was really the spiritual successor to King's Field, a game only developed by From Software.
Sarobi above me makes a very good point. Why would sony invest in a live action teaser trailer for a home update? That seems awefully extreme, seeing as how we barely see those kind of production values for some of the first party releases from Sony.
This is probably way off the mark, but could it be a game streaming service? I mean, with onlive all you need is a computer or that console hub thingie and a subscription (I may be mistaken, never really bothered with onlive...
I'm a platformer junky, but even I can say that the age of the platformer has come and gone. It's unfortunate really, as I have always felt that platformers represented some of the most challenging gaming experiences.
There are, however, wonder platformers even today, a lot of whic are found either on the Wii or through indie developers.
BTW - I just needed to add one thing as peeps here continue to laud LBP. The game was great, the user creat...
I am not totally sure how big of an impact the $50 price cut will be in adding new consumers for the PS3. Don't get me wrong, I think it is an awesome deal (imo, best console deal out there), but how many consumers, who did not have a PS3 before, all of a sudden are buying one due to a $50 difference.
I just think that if you were in the market to buy a PS3, you probably jumped the gun when the price was reduced to $299 (or when the slim came out). Were there really a ...
You could say the same thing about Japanese consumers only buying Japanese products.
And saying that they are inferior to the competition is misleading - what is important is the price to quality ratio. If you pay more, you should expect better quality. You may claim a Toyota and Honda are better quality than a Ford or Chevy (I wouldn't argue with you), but the Japanese cars also cost more thna the US conterparts.
By the way, I live in the US, and h...
To everyone stating of their prefered game: the author went by the top metacritic scores of this generation. So, if your game ain't on there, it's beacuse the metacritic score was not as high as those games.
This definitly isn't the best way to rank games (it's not the way I would rank games), but at least it is a legitimate answer to why *insert your favorite game* is not on the list.
Its not on the list because the author just went by metacritic scores (top 11 of this gen).
Not saying its right, just saying.
Trophywhore, did you even read the article.
I don't really have a problem with gamestop selling used games. I don't shop at gamestop because they are not the cheapest - for either new or used games.
For new games, you can consistently get better deals at Amazon, Toys R US, and K-Mart, as they offer better pre-order bonuses (I will always take $10-$20 off as a bonus than some worthless added content).
For used games, Amazon's prices always undercut anything that Gamestop offers. Even w...
jaosobno, no one has even mentioned US sales = world on this thread. In fact, there is no one boasting victory or any such nonsense.
I don't see any US braggards, however we all see you...
Wait, you have played every Nintendo system and are fed up with them all being outdated?
If you are refering to them being technologically inferior to the competition, only the Wii has been the least powerful in its generation. The Gamecube, N64, SNES, etc were all more capable graphically then there major competition at the time (although, Nintendo has always been behind when it comes to storage)
If you are refering to the fact that eventually all Ninte...
You don't like the hardware they produce, so they shouldn't compete at all? So all those people that did enjoy the Wii are screwed because Nintendo products are not your preference? That sounds awfully self-centered.
You want a hardcore, super powerful gaming machine with proper controls? Hate to break it to you, there already exists two of the consoles already out on the market. Whats wrong with Nintendo trying to be different?
No, but your r...
Ah, I see. I think that you misinterptated the author. The author was pointing out alternate games to play instead of the overrated one, not that they were runners up to be overrated.
The author is being a bit picky on a couple of things:
1) Metroid Prime: the author bashes the tank-like controls and the constant back-tracking. The controls were influenced by the gamecube controller, which only had one decent analog stick. You can't really blame a game for the shortcomings of the system. And back-tracking - you mean one of the major elements in which the Metroid games are known for? The one thing I will agree with is the speed. Samus moved a lit...
Where in the article did the author say Bioshock was overrated?
Edit: In fact, the author actaully praises Bioshock highly in the article.
I know P. Jelly, I mean, how dare Nintendo offer assistence to third parties voluntarily which is completely optional for them to accept. What kind of douchy business are they running over there at Nintendo anyway...

Never played paper mario, but punch out is a nice game. Very similar to the previous punch out games, so that may or may not sway your opinion.
Punch out brought me back. Plays real similar to the original. Fun times.
Jdoki, you're not alone. I must be getting old as well...
Are you sure that their mentality was all that different with the N64? Here is a list of the top grossing games on the N64:
Super Mario 64 (11.62 million)
Mario Kart 64 (9 million)
GoldenEye 007 (8 million)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (7.6 million)
Super Smash Bros. (5 million)
Diddy Kong Racing (4.434 million approximately)
Pokémon Stadium (3.871 million approximately)
Donkey Kong 64 (3.77 millio...
The idea to make a game similar to King's Field in conjuction with the original developer was Sony's idea. The game concept, however, is very much From Softwares IP.
This game is the spiritual successor to King's Field, a From Software game.
