That's a great point. And I love a great story as well, don't get me wrong. One example of a game that is great thanks to its gameplay is Bloodborne. Incredible game, but the story is difficult to understand. There's a story there, but people have to kind of piece puzzle together themselves. Amazing game though.
Most games are starting to be more like films nowadays. Hopefully, that trend doesn't stop games from including great gameplay. Because gameplay is what it's all about, even over content. Gameplay reigns supreme.
Right. Just play.
Instant pre-order if true. Second favorite all-time game behind Journey
I agree with you Phoneix. Like with Nioh, a game I absolutely love, it is always compared to Dark Souls. I'm not going to lie, I am guilty of writing a draft for a piece comparing Nioh and Dark Souls but totally get what you mean. Let the other hard games have their own identity.
For myself:
1. Bloodborne
2. Ghost of Tsushima
3. God of War
4. The Last of Us Part II
5. Horizon Zero Dawn
Tough to put them in order, but those are my five.
