I thought AC: Syndicate was a return to form and did some interesting things with the Templar vs Assassins plot line, protagonist bloodline, Isu lore and modern day sequences with the reintroduction of Juno. Everything in the series released since then should have been called Warrior's Creed instead.

100% my experience exactly! It's why I ended up ponying up for the SNES Mini, just 'cos I's always wanted one from my youth. That said, I still think SEGA's first-party titles were unparalleled in the 16-bit era.
Great to see AC Syndicate getting the recognition it deserves! That one's a real gem, a brilliant game and very much feels like a direct sequel to the Ezio trilogy. Which is unsurprising, as much of the team from AC Brotherhood went on to make AC Syndicate.
Syndicate is *so* much better than Unity in every way possible I can only presume that you haven't played Syndicate very much, if at all.
Wow, this game was a BFD on its initial release, very excited to see any graphical improvements they've made!
Surprised that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 didn't get a mention. That and Cyberpunk 2077 are going to dominate 2020 IMHO
Tl;dr - no.
I think $69.99 / £64.99 for new AAA games is a fair price for both customers and developers/publishers alike. More than that is IMHO hard to justify.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was one my fave games last gen and def the best God of War clone I've played. I really enjoyed Mirror of Fate on the 3DS, too (wish that'd come to iOS). Such a pity the sequel strayed from the formula that had made the first one so good.
No, it's almost never worth picking up a new console on launch day, companies always gouge early adopters.
Far better to wait a full year for them to have ironed out any hardware glitches, maybe drop the price and have a fuller line-up of games to enjoy.
Above all, by waiting a year (just one!) you'll be able to figure out which of the major platforms has taken the lead in the new gen's console war so you'll be better able to back the winn...
Why not, you know, Scarlet Witch? Or The Vision? Or freakin' Hawkeye? This seems a bit underwhelming, tbh.

This looks totally awesome, like a cross-over between Halo and X-Com (or maybe a fully 3D version of Herzog Zwei). I've not seen or played anything like *that* before, so this one certainly has my attention. Will be following with a keen interest.
