To respond to your second comment. Just wait until the Oculus Rift gets mainstream and I bet we'll see some pretty interesting simulators (if you know what I mean.) In fact your profile name would be a great name for one of those games.
I have to say I strongly believe that if they would have had a new Halo game ready at launch or soon afterward that they might be the dominate system out there right now. Convincing people to pay an extra $100 would have been a lot easier with a great Halo game as a reward.
