I think you missed the unlocking a trophy legitimately part. Disabling the internet connection and unlocking that way is sort of cheating. Secondly what about the ones like Crysis 2 that unlock if you play an online game 6 months after your first online game. At least with a collect 400 items trophies you are given a chance to get the platnum in your own time.

I should of explained myself a little better. Digital distribution will never catch on the way David Jaffe said it will because as long as Sony needs retailers to sell the hardware then digital distribution will always be held back.
You look on the PSN Store right now at some of the games available for digital download released and every single one of them cost about 20% more than the retailers copies. This is because Companies don't want to upset the retailers.

Well online passes have done the complete opposite for me. As someone whos always bought new on day one I have now decided to wait for games with online passes to go Platnum edition. I agree with nearly everything in the article except for the conclusion. Dark Souls is a perfect game to me. I've no gripes with the game what so ever. I just went through the painting in Anor Landos and the scenery in this game just keeps changing everywhere you go.
