The console hardware and software sales would say otherwise.

I don't agree with that. PC gaming has had online gaming with no charge before consoles even contemplated the thought. If you're paying full price for a game, and the components include mp, it should be as a set standard, not an extra fee to pay. I am already paying for my Internet service so I can pay online. I don't and many other users don't want to pay for another thing just to get the most out the game.

So Mr double edit, I am pretty sure getting an overall figure of Xbox users, doesn't mean they're all paying gold members. If that's the case you might as well say there are globally 74 million paying psn plus. But any sane person knows that's not the case. Except fanboys across the board.

45 minutes, way'd a go to pull an overly overestimated time figure. Sure it's not the fastest system to update. But you cannot doubt psn+ is doing wonders for the playstation brand. You're not just getting games for the ps3, but vita as well. And I bet Sony will use it on the ps4 as well.

Xbox fans can bitch all they want, paying just for the privilege to play online with gold is a mindless rip off. Last I checked PC gamers didn't need to pay to play their gam...

"always-online" functionality is a necessary and possibly revolutionary part of gaming's future.

Necessary for what? Only if you are a major company wanting to FORCE drm, that is the only logic i see behind always online. But they will spin it such as "this is necessary for better social integration for our game or platform". Optional online is a necessary functionality, even then some games don't even need it.

Revolutionary? How ...

Nothing to do with freedom of speech here. This annoys me greatly, as soon as someone is taken to task due to their stupid behaviour, you get some people bitching on about "what about freedom of speech?".

Sure losing his job might have been a little harsh, but I bet he knew the company's policies, and kind of talking or hinting about something that hasn't been formally announced yet is nobody but his fault.

No freedom rights were encroached ...

No sir you don't get it! For him to take such mindless actions whilst representing MS, could bring the company into disrepute. And that was proven by the backlash from his moronic comments and how widespread it went.

Any employee that could bring their company into disrepute would probably not be in a working position for a long time. Mr Orth proved it.

Best joke I heard all day.......oh you're actually serious! That makes it even more funnier.

Amen to that!

Then don't make the damn dlc day one, knowing how most will react to it. At least have the courtesy to release it some weeks after. Pay $60, then releasing some content along side it the same day for another fee is just insulting to your paying customers.

If a game is being developed, and the devs decided to release "extra content" along side the game release, then that is content cut out of the game. Why not make it part of the initial game if was developed in tandem. There is no logical reasoning, beside pure greed.

Defend this practice all you want but it's wrong and setting up a bad precedence. One of the best examples is when Mass Effect 3 released their from the ashes day one dlc. That content was ripped ou...

What is with all the PC elitists and their notion to bitch about high/mid/low end pcs vs consoles? Must be an argument to compensate for their some penis syndrome!

Oh you mean the same company that released the Vista OS. The greatest OS ever! Or the Xbox 360 with never failing hardware issue or RROD!

Yeah, MS is a computer company first, doesn't mean that they don't make shit decisions!
