I don't think it would be pointless at all. One of the main complaints about TF is how bare-bones it is, adding a quality campaign mode instead of the awful "campaign missions" the game has now, would benefit it greatly imo. It would also help just...

Graphically, it's pretty food. The lighting is very nice especially, and i really like the design of the environments. I'm pretty impressed considering it's in alpha.
Gameplay wise, the shooting feels very solid. The Sparrow is nice and smooth to drive.....just all round solid i guess. Framerate is a pretty solid 30 too, only noticed a few minor hiccups.
Borrow/steal/buy a PS3 and borrow/steal/buy all 3 UC games right now.

Agreed on the friendly AI. I was watching my friend play through the story on the new 'Grounded' difficulty mode the other day and i kept wondering why they didn't just have friendly AI stay a little way back, behind cover, while you do your thing. They set it so friendly AI are constantly on your ass, following your every move, and that's where the problems arise.
Just set it so that Ellie, or whoever, stays back and hurls bottles and bricks at the enemies ...

Also, terrible YouTube comparison is terrible.
I really enjoyed the trial and error of the gameplay mechanics. There was one section i remember, where you had to create a boat/raft from a branch, but you had to draw it in such a way as to stay on it as it went over a waterfall, because if you fell i the water, you died.
Took me around 15 tries, lol. I did it when i curved the front of the raft upwards so i didn't fly off the front.
