Bully is such a different type of game than Max Payne, that it's hard for me to tell if it will be any good. I didn't play much of Bully myself, but a lot of people reviews say that it was damn good game.

As I said though, since I can't really compare Bully to Max Payne, it's kind of a giant question mark as to whether they can pull it off.

From the Article:

"“It mainly comes down to the fact that if you’re working in another studio, you’re working in another man’s house,” said Smith. “So the culture, the way the games are made, who has creative control, how the creative direction is handled; these are all things that have kind of been predetermined before you ever turned up. Which is great when you’re getting your feet, but when you’re talking long-term thinking, ‘Well. I’m going to be doing this for the next ...

I really think all of this was blown into full force with the Wii. I agree with mgoblue on that--Nintendo made a very clear market, and for some developers, it's their intention to cater to that casual, play once a week fanbase.

Sadly, some of the games I love the most could be considered "hardcore" in the sense that only a crazy person would commit to them for love of something more than simple entertainment--Jet Set Radio, Ico, Rez, Ikaruga, etc.

But ther...

If the sales are higher, and the percentage is up, does it mean that the industry grew more than the 47% it did last year? I'm terrible at math.

Either way. Another awesome year!

Grow up, good games are available on every platform. A platform - such as the PS3 or 360 - is merely a piece of technology on which to play games.

It's all about the games.

Pumpkin Beach? Really? I don't know why but that's such a cool name but it is. I'm glad to see them find new work though

I don't fall for marketing ploys usually, but these stupid viral sites always suck me in.

Perhaps Sony could respond with BlockBuster on the PS3. See...easy fix.

The Wii doesn't have the games to be someone's main system, but it is great for just chillin with some family and people who aren't TOO into games. It's great to have fun with them and with a girlfriend, so it's no surprise it still has that appeal.

The industry may not be recession proof, but I agree that the medium is--this economy won't break people's need to be diverted. And more so than a movie, games offer hours of entertainment for one ticket price. I think if anything, it'll be the entertainment industry (aside from the adult, of course) that does the best in this climate.

True but you have to remember that considering how much more expensive games are than movies, that somebody would likely opt for 3 DVDs for something like $20 in those used movie deals or a Neflix subscription where they can see unlimited movies each month for as low as $10. That's how you entertain yourself cheaply...

As much as I love Chinatown and A Clockwork Orange, I think it'd be near impossible to do either one true justice with a controller.

Is it sad that even after Little Big Planet, MGS, Resistance, and this are either out or on their way, I still feel no need to buy a PS3 for anything other than flow?

Haha, the sad thing about what Cliffy B said (I don't care what he prefers to be called now that he's rolling in money) is that despite its obvious chauvinism, it's kinda true. Playing a beta is bragging rights fo' life.

Also, Kojima's comments depress me considerably. Maybe it's nostalgia.

The trend that bothers me is how easy a lot of games are. I want a bit of difficulty. Maybe I'm just getting too good at games.

I think Old Republic has a solid chance to compete with WoW in the MMO game. I don't know if it'll get to the sheer size of WoW but I think it could get about 5 to 6 million subscribers.

And obviously, Xbox 360 wins. Fable 2 4 Lyfe!

Kidding.

I never understood the fanboy phenomenon. I think it has to do with gamers needing to assert their offset sports pride into another medium.

I didn't know Will Wright dropped out of college, but I'm not surprised. That guy's a little crazy, but in a good way. John Carmack is my boy :-) Glad to see he wasn't institutionalized by the educational system. Fight the system!

I don't have time or money for games that aren't going to really impress me. Call me overly demanding, but if it's not especially different from anything else I've already played, I'm probably not going to buy it. $60 isn't chump change. Have you seen the stock market?! I'm broke!

Band On The Run better have been on there. Or someone would've been hurt.

Also, where is Red Hot Chili Peppers doing Higher Ground?
