Buy the 360 version if you can.
The PS3 version does a good job and has superior lighting in some sections, but overall it's more washed out than the 360 version, which as a result effects texture detail.
Have a look at these shots that show the difference: http://www.gameswire.net/co...

"Any idea what satire is?"
Yes, but this isn't it. Satire requires intelligence.
Face it, this was nothing more than the staff of one website throwing a strop at a type of article that is (a) clearly very popular and (b) something their site isn't equipped to do.
@jimmins - I'd say the words 'unprofessional' and 'childish' apply more to NowGamer's article.
NowGamer clearly wants us to believe that it's too good for comparison articles (rather than just ill-equipped), however it's happy to stoop so low as to publish 'joke' features that do nothing more than take swipes at other sites? C'mon, for a site that wants to be highbrow, editorially this is lame.
All I did was suggest, truthfully, that NowGamer would probably benefit m...
Pff, perhaps he should do some real comparisons, rather than just mocking them? Then maybe Imagine Publishing's 'supersite' might actually get some traffic...
RE. brightness - read the text.
Hand on heart we have done nothing to change the PS3's brightness. Our PS3 is on best settings as is our 360.
We didn't like it. Sure, for the video we gunned down the civilians with gusto, but only in the interest of creating a video. We felt a bit wrong afterwards.
As for what we see in movies, scenes in movies tend to be obscured and/or balanced out morally in some way. The fact you're a participant in a graphic and slow moving death scene without any sort of requirement for conscience makes this slightly poor taste in our opinion.
"poor choice of words"
Or a completely intentional choice, given the subject matter. I guess it's a bit subtle for here.
Also a poor choice of words for homophobic children who could be reading.
@Slim
We're not trying to expose any GT5 weakness...
Do you even read things before you comment on them?
I found it a lot of fun when playing earlier.
You've got to be into this type of madness though, granted.
When capturing PS3 games, you need either a debug PS3, or a system for getting by the HDCP on retail PS3s.
The way that most people get around this, is to use component to grab PS3 shots, as the HDCP is then lost in the conversion to analogue. But of course, as Slim's shots show, with analogue comes 'noise' and a loss of quality.
Please explain how we 'touch up' pictures, please, I'm all ears.
Face it, this is nothing more than a sad and desperate attempt to discredit better quality shots that, in all honesty, make yours look rubbish.
Slim, you don't know what you're talking about.
We compared PS3 default gameplay shots with Super white/RGB Full shots back when we first set up our hardware and there is a difference. Or at least there seemed to be at the time. Maybe I'll capture something on both settings to see quite how much difference there is.
Of course, it's highly possible that with your component/analogue capture set up, changing the settings makes no difference for you. As your shots look ...
Our comparison is now live: http://n4g.com/xbox360/News...
PS3 version still comes off a bit worse than the 360 (seems to be mostly down to resolution), but at least you'll be looking at proper shots.
Hi everyone, you may as well ignore this comparison, as the PS3 and 360 screenshots have not been captured using pure-digital means.
The PS3 screenshots in this comparison are fuzzy and washed out - something that happens when you capture PS3 screenshots using crappy analogue component leads. The site will have done this because they don't have means of defeating the PS3's HDCP.
For those of you who haven't clicked the links elsewhere in this thread, have a look at t...
You need to read the article. Then you won't be so confused.
???
Heh, well, the video *is* 720p. The fact that the game renders at less than that just means it's upscaled to 720p, rather than being native 720p.
It's because the game runs at less than 720p and is then upscaled. This shows up in stills, but the speed of running gameplay hides much of the imperfections.
Also, it's a bit jaggy.
This is one of those classic examples of it being a good idea to actually read something before commenting on it.
Despite the news story's sensationalist headline, no one's suggesting £70 price point is the actual way forward. Deering admits people wouldn't pay such a price.
Going on my own personal experience of using different capture set ups, I'd say the Videogameszone 360 grabs we taken using a component (analogue) connection, rather than HDMI (pure digital). I've seen numerous component grabs, and they all suffer this same sort of smudged look. So, not a fair comparison really and best to be ignored.
For the Gameswire comparison, we grabbed both versions of the game over HDMI, with the two consoles on their best settings (RGB full for PS3; Expan...
