Never thought about it that way (selling more ps3's means a greater loss).
But I think the loss per ps3 for the 40gb is much less. Sony might actually be breaking even on the 40gb's b/c I think they have 65nm chips (rather than 90nm in the older ps3's). Plus the motherboard in the 40gb chip is smaller and simpler (Graphic synthesizer chip for ps2 BC removed).
I'm really glad the developers decided to 're-imagine' SOCOM on the PSP. For the SOCOM's on the PSP, single player has always been just mediocre (while online multi-player has always been mind blowing. 16 players, voice chat- all on a little PSP, I still find it amazing).
Great to know SOCOM-psp will now have single player as good as, if not better, than Syphon Filter. And the graphics....***WOW***...from the screenshots, they look amazing.

If worldwide sales is now at about 6 million then they should be able to get close to 11 million by March '08. They'll probably get around 10.5 million by then. As stated by the article, slightly short of Sony's goal but not too far off.

EDGE has always been tough. These scores don't bother me much b/c EDGE is a pretty niche magazine over here in the states (EDGE being UK-based and all).
But Gamespot....that's a totally different story. GS is totally 'mainstream' (as in they get a lot of hits on their website, especially from American internet users).

Gamespot is like the EA of videogame websites. They buy up all the valuble internet properties (eg, gamefaqs.com) and all the valuble gaming URL's (eg, videogames.com, gamevideos.com) and then they just shove their bias onto the internet population.
