Don't know abt XBone but PS4 is ready. as I am a plus subscriber and download so may digital, also buy a lot of game from Day 1 Digital. My all friends also use PS Day 1 Digital.
As a gamer I want more and good game not a hardware wich has some other feature more than gaming. And sony proved it in this Gen and many PS3 owners knew that, I owned a XBox 360 and this is sad I only buy Gear and COD on XBox 360. Rest of games are available on both console, so why I make same mistake with next gen.

A little math here, suppose MS make profit of $50 on each XBone sale, then they need to sale 6,690,000 XBone every year to run these servers. Bill Gate is richest man of US and has $72.7 billion. 5 Bill Gates = MS yearly server cost.

Server need maintenance time to time, and maintenance is costly. So they need money to established a better online experience.
