Because they came to the market late. The system was VERY expensive. The games were not that good especially compared to the multiplatform games. The PSN and the OS of the PS3 lacked features.
Currently, why is Sony still the underdog?
Basically the same reasons as listed above. The PS3 still has all of those problems. Not to mention that MS has taken just about all of the big exclusives and has added features that are way beyond the PS3 offering. Twitter, Faceb...

but that doesn't mean that the system is dead! Sure it lacks some features and it costs more, and the third party games aren't as good and software developers actually sell less on the system but ultimately, the PS3 is selling. It is selling well.

Most articles are positive on the PS3 when N4G is concerned. 99 percent of the articles are against MS and the 360.
So, is PSN catching up with Live....Well, it was never that far behind. Misses the mark on some spots but it is free. Free is good. Live is certainly worth the money though!

A friend of mine has had his PS3 go down twice already. After the last time he purchased a 360 and said good bye to the PS3.
This is becoming more common and not just because of the problems with the PS3 but namely because the 360 software is generally better than the PS3 and Live is much more polish and feature rich.
While my PS3 hasn't given me any trouble it honestly doesn't get played often. I rather run Live than PSN any day. Of course, this is becoming mor...

I know many fine gamers who are trading in their PS3's for 360s! Once you experience Live there is no going back to basics.
Also, for gaming, most games are better on the 360 anyways.
