I just meant don't expect this fun all ages game to replace your favorite M rated shooter, because it's going to provide a different experience.
Just to back up our score, our focus is on family oriented games, so our review criteria are different from other sites.
While LEGO City Underground lacks the co-op of the other LEGO titles, we feel this is an outstanding game for kids and parents alike with a so many of the attributes we look for a good family game.
I would wager the EDGE score isn't considering younger gamers when it assigns a 5/10. But my 3 year old can't get enough of driving and...
There's plenty to do besides the missions. There's 450 gold blocks, each representing something to collect or uncover, there's hundreds of vehicles and costumes to unlock, Super Builds to find, races and other little mini missions. As I said in the review, took me 15 hours or so to beat the missions, and I still have almost 70% to go to 100%, so there's a lot of play in the game.
And for the most part, the LEGO people get out of your way, though you can still ...
Obviously, we loved the game, so I can say that it's believable that Game Informer gave it a legit 8.5. It's not for everyone, but it's got very broad appeal and a lot to like. Don't expect it to replace CoD or Halo, but it is fun in its own way.
Honest, I'm not really sure. We've always felt that Halo must be RIGHT on the edge. If you took out the assassinations and the minimal amount of blood, it's probably a T-rated game.
It's certainly not equal to other M-rated shooters like CoD.
Controls for one. Preschools can rock the touchscreen on an iPhone or iPad (our kids are proof!) a lot easier that DS/3DS/PS Vita controls. Plus, as mentioned, the size issues. A phone fits in smaller hands, and an iPad is great in the lap. PS Vita needs to be held.
100 is sacred, and we've only given out one in the history of the site. But 99 is nothing to sneeze at :)
If he's a preschooler, I would definitely recommend Once Upon a Monster over God or War or Assassin's Creed. Those aren't exactly games for 4 year olds :)
Yeah, its an excellent kart racer, and a terrific family game. Avalanche Software have nailed the last two Pixar games.
Both games look to be outstanding. Mostly for kids, but parents will definitely have a good time playing along. I can't wait to get both at home to share with my kids.
Why would someone at Bungie be leaking comprehensive details of a game they are not working on?
I like what the game offers, but thats definitely not geared to a standard gamer. This a toys+game proposition, and using Spyro was a good choice. He's a character with a history, but who has basically been sidelined for a while. Figure that Activision could have launched this without a "name" character, or added in Spyro as one of the characters, and it makes sense to have gone with the latter.
I think 60-90 minutes.
I'm sorry, since when is it a bad thing to create content and get people to visit a website? Isn't that the whole point of the internet?
The general consensus last year, being in the audience, and taking to people afterwards, was the Nintendo had the best showcase, trotting out a rapid fire stream of games and capping it with the 3DS unveiling. In hindsight, the games may not have been as good as hoped for(or even released yet), but in the moment, attendees were hyped for Nintendo over the other two companies.
But much like when NFL watchers grade the draft the next day, how that plays out in the long run is u...
There are investors there, but E3 as currently constituted is as much about PR and marketing to the gaming audience than anything else. That's why there are so many gaming journalists in attendance.
From Wired:
“Nintendo 3DS has not been selling as expected since the second week [of availability in the United States and Europe], and this is not just in the Japanese market but also in the United States and Europe, where no direct impact from the great earthquake has occurred,” Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said during an investor briefing in Tokyo. “Therefore, we recognize that we are in a situation where we need to step up our efforts to further promote the spread of N...

Nintendo won last year in the eyes of many, by presenting a non-stop lineup of good looking games, and unveiling the 3DS for the first time. It's not inconceivable they could do the same this year with Project Cafe.
Thanks for the tips! Manual would be an interesting challenge, since I don't even know how to drive one in the real world :)
