I've been around along time thru various game changes. Atari to nes to snes to psx to now. True, the old style RPG's are over. I'd love to see ff16 have a big open world with towns and people to talk to. To me, ff13 and up are too much action. They don't have the same feel to the story. We need a branching story and put the role back into roleplaying. You need action but not all action. 13 didn't even have towns, smh
That wasn't why Dreamcast failed. I've lived thru that time period and that wasn't why. Ps2 hype killed Sega and the promise Sony made about movie quality games which ps2 definitely wasn't.
True on everything you said bit let me add the most important reason. Apple is selling you a phone. Nintendo is selling a games machine which the software has to be there. Companies can't keep their games a secret until release they need to build up hype to get you to buy it and a week isnt enough. No game company would do that. Games have gotten to expensive to make.
