I can't find any official announcements to back both of those up.
A lot of the time total sales are based on estimates after developers stop releasing stats, so the numbers won't be 100% accurate.
Yep! It was released with a mat. Nintendo did re-release it as World Class Track Meet along with a new mat called the Power Pad, so you might have had that one!
If only I owned a copy!
