No, you are right about other stories producing that kind of hatred in the comments and I didn't really mean to say gay topics are special like that. I guess it's just the frequency in which it happens and that the comments ring personal for me.

Well Septic, it is not just the ads, that is just one obvious example. Those links in my other comment represent what I'm saying also. When a gay gaming character is brought up comments like "sexuality shouldn't matter", "sexuality isn't needed in games", "why is sexuality shoved in my face"...then we get stories like the ones I linked and it is just fine.

Well I haven't read one comment about those big boobie ads on every story on a daily basis being forced in your face. I do however see "Forced down my throat" and "In my face" comments on every single gay story on N4G. So I guess that is why I see a discrepancy.
