They did the same thing with Vista and DX10. It didn't persuade me to change from XP as there were no DX10 only games - everything still supported DX9 for a very long time.
The danger here is if MS convince one of the big publishers to make a AAA title DX11.2 only, but I can't see anyone doing that as it would severely limit their sales and alienate their customers.
I don't think we have anything to worry about here.
Completely agree about Crysis 3. Am playing through it at the moment and yes, it looks pretty, but the gameplay isn't as exciting as I'd hoped it would be - it's all a bit repetetive.
