This is the kind of game that shines on the Switch man. I really hope for a sequel.
Just to argue for argue's sake: Heard of Apple Arcade? Just grab a wireless controller and play it. No need for a low rez switch port. And even better: When Nintendo's online service goes down for "maintenance", you can still play it regardless.
Remember playing a lot of Rocket League on my PS4 back in the dayz. The game uses Psyonix own servers, but when PSN went offline (which happened a lot), you still couldn't play it.
But enough shit talk. What...
1. Fortnite
- Falling for the F2P scheme
- Playing an inferior port of the game
- Based off Nintendo's bad online service
Nice clean gameplay style, and there's boobs. Thumbs up
Dafuk is Roblox?
The only time I've used this feature is when I've accidentially pressed the button. Wouldn't mind it gone in the next PS.
I don't really like how the PS ecosystem has become. It's too much focus on "social" features. When I boot up my Switch or older consoles I feel more at ease because its focus is on the actual gaming - not friend activity, online profile, what other players think etc. When I boot up my PS4 it feels like bloody facebook.
Firewatch was OK, but I'm not supporting Sean Vanaman and his SJW team at Campo Santo.
Sssh.. Only extraverts complain about such ;)
It's a cool game. The framerate was always the issue on the PS3 so this remaster sounds really nice!
Sadly the Switch will be too weak for to run this game at a decent framerate.
The technical achievement of the game is really something! Super slick 60fps with different types of physics added. This is how Switch games should be :) And that said, I hope there will be a Touryst sequel in the future.
Most games on this list is so zZzzZzz. I'm looking forward to the new Shin Megami Tensei game.
The Touryst is a pretty cool game, but I hate some of the level design when you have to do those precision jumps, especially on the blue orbs inside the Fiji (?) monument, there's no depth cues and f**king frustrating. But overall cool game with lots of nice surprises. Just to play Bomb Jack in the arcade is worth it :)
I see Neo Cab mentioned. Is that really a game or is it just a visual novel?
The switch isn't for AAA multiplatform games, they look like shit with maybe one or two exceptions.
I do like the Switch for the first party exclusives, and some nice indies which feels at home on the console such as Hollow Knight, Celeste, Dead Cells etc.
99.8% of the Switch eShop catalogue is crap, so it's a bit challenging to find the gems.
The Switch is my main console too. I play 99% docked mode, though. I love the fact that it completely silent. Compared to my PS4 Pro which is loud as an vacuum cleaner.
Dear Falcom.. Get some help optimizing your games on the Switch.. Ys VIII could've been so much better with higher resolution and higher framerate.. Just look at Nintendo's first party titles - it IS possible!
Nice review!
The first one was kinda cool
Yeah I guess a lot of the games are built with Unity, which basically mean you can compile it for every platform. The real problem is when the graphics are a bit more ambitious than 8bit retro pixel style. Most devs just doesn't seem to be very good at optimizing their games cos they are used to much more powerful hardware. Exception is Nintendo's own titles. They are exceptional. I was blown away by Odyssey especially.
@Shiken
Just got DQ XI myself, playing it now actually. Surprisingly good port, just gotta get used to the pop-ins.
Which games do you play online? I've only really been interested in Tetris 99.
