Bad news. But not surprising at all. A company like Wal-Mart have no interest in supporting Linux or open source software. Fortunately Linux is starting to gain momentum here, in Europe. Many europeans governements have started to switch some of their administrations from MS products to open source ones.
Obviously you didn't play the first one. Deus Ex is one of the best game I ever played if not the best one. But Invisible War was a far cry from the previous game. Not a bad game, a good one indeed, but far from the awesomeness of the adventure of JC Denton.
I might be wrong but I think that Warren Spector was the lead designer of the first Deus Ex but not of the second one. Smith was the lead on Invisible War.
Agreed, Bloodlines was one the best RPG in recent years. Unfortunately it was extremely buggy. But a great game nonetheless.
I might be wrong but I pretty sure that I'm not. I don't work in game development but I know some stuff about 3D engines and try to be up-to-date in this topic. At least I have a good knowledge of the CryEngine2 and UE3 and I can assure you that the CE2 is more potent than the UE3. The only issue with the CryEngine2 is that the only game which used it today is Crysis. And many people believe that Crysis is unoptimized because it's a ressource hog. But comparing Crysis with CoD4 or UT3 is not ...
Good list... but i highly doubt that FFXIII and RE5 will be out this year. As far as I'm concerned i would have put Far Cry 2 and Left 4 Dead in this list.
Free or not GFW Live just sucks. Steam is far better and is the way to go for any sane PC gamer. In fact the whole GfW initiative is some kind of a bad joke.
Crysis will probably remain a PC exclusive. But Crytek has announced at least one new project which will be a multiplatform game. We also know that this game won't be a FPS.
The second video is very impressive. The first one was shown months ago and is a tech demo for Crysis. The CryEngine2 is much more advanced than the UE3 or any other 3D engine out there. The only competitors are the upcoming Dunia which is used in Far Cry 2 and the id Tech 5 which will powered Rage.
The CryEngine2 is unmatched when it comes to lighting techs. It's the best engine for parallax occlusion mapping, subsurface scattering and ambient occlusion, especially with the scre...
Not that impressing. A SLI of 8800 GTX/GTS will perform better than these 3870. Moreover they should have bench Crysis or World in Conflict instead of CoD 4 which isn't that demanding.
This alliance sounds like a good move for PC gaming but I'm surprise that some majors PC developpers like Valve, Relic, Crytek or GPG aren't part of it. Especially Valve. Imho Steam is the future of PC Gaming, it's one of the best way to prevent piracy and cheating and it provides a great digital distribution system. Steam is far better than Windows Live and should be the core of the Games for Windows initiative.
EA has revealed, during their conference call, that Crysis has reached platinum status. Of course the game has sold 1 million units worldwide, not in the US. In fact Crysis, as most PC games, has probably sold much more in Europe than in the US. I would say that Crysis has sold around 700k or 800k units in Europe and I suppose the sales in Germany alone were bigger than the american ones.
Otherwise i'm pretty happy that ME comes to the PC. I was wondering about getting a 360 for ...
PC gaming dying ? Well sort of. Unfortunately there's a lot of issues that undermine the PC gaming market and fuel the console success. That's really sad as I prefer the PC as a gaming platform but there's no point in living in denial.
But the demise of PC gaming is bad news for everyone, not for PC gamers only. Because the decline of PC gaming and PC exclusives is parallel by the decline of the hardware market. Just look at AMD, they're basically dying. Of course there's a lot o...
