The whole thing is just one big complaint. The author never goes into specifics; he just writes how horrible it is, then gives it an 8.9 and calls it a good game.
Here are a few examples of how badly written this article is:
"The combat is brutal and almost has no equal, but some of the cheap enemies just leave you gobsmacked and you walk away feeling like you were just c*ckslapped by the developers."
"Graphically it’s a little better loo...
Don't you think it's a bit early to start adding MGS4 to "best of all time" lists?
I'm all for it if it stands the test of time, but come on - the game's been out for like, a day and a half. Talk about jumping the gun.
I just don't think the game will hit anywhere near the numbers GTA did... but we shall see.
If you'd read the article, you'd probably understand that it was just an attention grabber - not really meant to be taken seriously.
Agreed - the text was not condescending at all. It were merely informative.
They do this all the time, but they usually just say that the game is released a minute after 11:59 PM on Tuesday (or whatever). Maybe people don't know that midnight is actually the first minute of the day!
I think it really depends on just how big of a fan you are. One man's junk is another man's treasure, after all.
I'm a PC gamer as well, but there are certain traits of PC gaming that I just don't want to see make their way over to consoles. Half of the reason why I use a console instead of my PC is so that I can just sit down, pop a game in, and play. Worrying about file sizes, hard drive space, install times, etc. should stay out of the console arena, in my opinion - simplicity is good sometimes.
It's funny to me that everyone keeps posting about how great the installation is. It's just a sad attempt at convincing themselves that installations don't suck... and guess what?
Whether or not they add a fancy load screen or not, installations for consoles always stink, and I dread the day they make their way to the other machines.
Someone sure is going to get reamed over this. And they deserve it too - this theft is ridiculous.
In some sense, EA already did launch a console actually - the 3DO was created by EA co-founder, Trip Hawkins.
I agree - keeping the price reasonable, the functionality similar, and improving the reliability are the three most important things for the next Xbox... However far into the future that may be.
Desperate? Come on now, this is really getting tiresome. Why is it desperation to secure more exclusive content? That's the heart of the business, for MS, Sony, and Nintendo.
So legions of Madden fans are going to make a console? I don't think so.
Was he disguised as a cardboard box while he did this?
While there seems to be a lot of buzz for MGS4 on the net, I think we should wait and see. Most of the people I see online who are excited about this game are already PS3 owners - I've only seen a handful of people who have said they were going to buy a PS3 for this game, or who were not planning on buying a console until they heard about MGS4.
I'm of mind that games with larger mass appeal, like Spore, will sell systems of all flavors more than any of the system-exclusives like MGS4.
Are those actually volumetric particles? I've not seen them before.
Though a bit on the technical side, I hope we can see some of these sorts of effects creep into more games soon. So long as they don't slow them down too much anyway, since laying on the pixel shaders can weigh on the GPU pretty quickly.
Why would they rework the graphics for 360? The game's been finished for months.
