Wow, your big complaint about Sony is GAAS when defending Microsoft... First off Microsoft has only made GAAS since the 360, have fun playing Sea of Thieves Gears of War or Halo Infinite all GAAS, even Forza including the upcoming one has MTX and a battle pass. Meanwhile Sony's last games were God of War and Horizon all GAAS free their next game is Spider-Man GAAS free.
So, tell me again who is the one doing GAAS, and we all know Starfield ...
Elden Ring doesn't have Tempest support, if your not playing a game that uses Tempest then your 7.1 is probably better.
What you need to understand is that all 3D is just an illusion. What PS5 does is alter the sounds so they trick your brain into thinking the sound is coming from behind you. When something moves from in front of you to behind you the object is still making the same sound but is sounds differently as it hits the back of your ear, and the PS5 very acc...
In unit sales the DS controller is the number 1 peripheral. And the DSE is number one in dollar sales, so that means that approximately one in three controllers Sony sold was a $200 controller.
I have used several "3D Audio" headsets including Dolby and none of those are anything like the 3D HRTF Tempest offers.
One of the main things is the number of different sounds it can map, so every little thing is mapped and modified in real time. The best example I have seen in Horizon where all the animals have sounds even when your in combat.
And the 3D positioning is so good you can quite honestly close your eyes and find the source of ...
This has nothing to do with starting a format, Tempest is not a mainstream design it's a hardware. Sony is not trying to compete they are trying to provide a a audio system that is tailored for gaming. Unlike Atmos which is positional format designed around cinema.
Atmos is a downgrade from Tempest and second Atmos on PS5 is still using the Tempest engine and squishing it into Atmos. Tempest is a full audio chip that can do real time hardware audio manipulations including ray traced audio.
Using a headset with HRTF is still the premier 3D experience.
Let's not forget that Sony even gives you for free really great video editing software with Share Factory, which on PS5 with the SSD is insanely fast and easy to use.
Yea, I am really looking forward to seeing what the India Hero Project will produce, I don't think I have ever even seen game made in India so I expect the unexpected.
"Your whole argument is based on the idea that the Pro couldn't be the target hardware"
At no point did I say that and that wasn't even part of my thought process at all when I replied to you. I'm sure there will be games that have "pro" versions. what I was trying to explain is that there is a lot of benefit to be had for a Pro console because so many games use things like DRS. Even older games will see an instant benefit even without dev...
I don't know of any games that run at 720 native on PS5, their internal resolution is dynamic and can drop to 720 then they are being upscaled, and in those games the internal resolution is dynamic and 720 is just the minimum cut off those games average resolution is much higher than 720.
So on a Pro the developers for those games wouldn't even have to program for it, the Pro simply wouldn't drop to as low of an internal resolution. Keep in mind that dynamic r...
But let's be fair steam deck is playing it at all the lowest settings I probably should have said at a similar performance level.
But I just want to point out that your talking about all this future stuff, I'm not really sure that has anything to do with this topic at all. We're talking about what you can buy today. No one is denying that in the future this game will likely run easily on the tech o...
Well... then they should have started planning it 2 - 3+ years ago like Sony did.
And uh, I wouldn't count on a whole lot of boosted sales, the One X sold like 6 million units, I guarantee it was a HUGE money loss for them. And let me remind you that Microsoft's last few financial reports have had losses in their hardware revenue.
Besides Microsoft had a plan, that was to release their "Pro" at the launch, and what they learned was that...
Dreams is great, PGA has it's niche and Death's Door is the sleeper hit here.
Interesting that it's a Devolver game, I feel like this may be the first Devolver game that's been on Plus.
I'd like to see more of their games come to Plus in the future, they are a really solid indie publisher. They are like PlayStation in that whenever Devolver's name is on the box you can expect a high level of quality.
I would bet you money that the reason they keep adding sports games is because despite the complainers these games are some of the most downloaded and played games they are offering.
These sports games are all million sellers that generate massive amounts of income.
Ya know... no one really seems to point out the fact that PS5 is playing games with way lower overall hardware specs that what you need on PC to match it.
You can buy a PS5 for 400, which is less than the cost of just the GPU needed to play at similar fidelity and that's leaving out all the other costs involved with buying a PC. (SSD CPU MB Memory ect.)
The cost to performance ratio HEAVILY leans to PlayStation.
Uh, get back to me when any xbox game can load from the home screen directly into the game in 7 seconds.
And let me remind you that 3 4 seconds when your talking 7 -10 seconds is 30 to 40% difference. And that's on multi platform, when the PS5 SSD is properly used it's doing things no xbox game has done.
The PS5 SSD is more than 2x the speed of the xbox ssd, That's a fact.
