The scores for this game puzzle me a bit, ive tried it, and it feels a bit awkward.
You do battle in this game by selecting an opponent, and then choosing from a selection of skills, while your character is hacking away uncontrolled at the enemy's, all you can do is circle around the enemy and watch how the fight unfolds....
While i must admit, the plot is awesome, society's living on huge golems, fighting out a rivalry that once belonged to the golem...
My favorite series ever, and i have been gaming since 1985, tried so many franchises, and Mass effect sticks out for me.
With the Suikoden franchise as my second favorite.
Metal gear is not a nes game, sure there was a nes version, but it was a port of the MSX version, with some added stuff.
Also Solid is a direct sequel to Metal gear 2, which was MSX exclusive, so Solid is not based on the older ones, its a sequel.
Most likely a new Baten Kaitos.
Or less likely the handheld version of Xenosaga 3.
You should also realize that the less bugs a game like this has, the more money it costed to develop it.
Testing is a very tedious and expensive process, too much testing would make a game too expensive, and it would take too long before a game is finally done.
That time never existed, just look at roms dumps of snes and genesis games, theres so many 1.1, 1.2 rom dumps, that hardly any game was bugfree.
Considering the amount of glitches in old games that people make videos of, i would say that bugfree games never existed, and wont exist any time soon.
The bigger the scope, the bigger the risc of having bugs in a game.

You are forgetting that Bethseda games like Elder scrolls got a very large scope.
The bigger the scope of a game, the more flaws will be in it.
They cant keep developing until its 100% bug free, otherwise the development costs would be so high, that Beth would be forced to charge customers double the price.
