And no, not the development team, theres a strict line between the people that do the functional requirement (asking party) and the people who do the delivery of the software (developing party).
The functional requirements are written by the people who decide the direction of the game, their vision decides how a game looks, plays, and feels.
The developers just design a technical document, get it approved with the functional party, and then build the product.
No, i have not been living under a rock, THQ is about to release Legends of wrestlemania (march 20), that game will bring them the cash needed to continue, despite all the articles about THQ going bust, i am pretty sure that THQ is here to stay.

the adult industry should buy the franchise, and next to gore add nudity to the series, this will spark a lot of interest in the game, as it would officially become the most hardcore series ever.

Everybody was expecting this game to do very well, it was hyped like crazy.
Overcoming odds means, if its expected that you will do bad, and it turns out you did good instead.
That can hardly be applied to this situation....
1 year from now Sony will be asking the same thing from 3rd party devs working on ps3 games.
