The only reason the PS3 is so close to the Xbox 360 is because Sony went overtime in building PS3s every built PS3 sent to retailers counts as a sale to both Sony and Microsoft. There is not telling how many unsold PS3s or Xbox 360s are currently sitting in warehouses or stores yet still being called sold by the companies.

360 has been outselling PS3 for over four months straight so I don't see why casual would be a ploy to beat Sony when Xbox is already ahead and Kinect has yet to release.

No company is perfect and any company rolling out a update to a consumer audience larger than Comcast in a single day is going to have problems. There is nothing wrong with the new dashboard itself as I have been using it for a month already with no hiccups. The problems were caused by the amount of people trying to download the update at once.
Mine is 1080p and everything is sharp.

Sadly when my PS3 YLOD it was a week after the warranty ended and I had the choice to wait a month or more to get it fixed by Sony for $150 or buy the new slim for $300 so I just bought the slim...

If the supply wasn't enough it wouldn't have been able to gain to such a high position on their list.
