The game was announced in 2006, I think people have had enough patience at this point. The first AC game wasn't even out then and now we will have 9 AC games and possibly even more before FF15's demo gets a release date.
They're no doubt also working on a sequel to Sleeping Dogs, the graphics in this look no different than to what they looked like in the original game and on top of that if it's online only then it wouldn't take them 2+ years to develop.
It's like Square Enix and Capcom had bets on at the start of the last generation to see which one could butcher the most franchises within a set number of years.
Kojima actually said himself it will not be like GTA's open world, it will be smaller but regional open worlds.
I'd imagine it's kinda like how Assassin's Creed does it.
