Yeah as Agent said the release is on the 25th in Australia, but considering Australia is almost a day ahead of west coast USA it isn't too far behind. :)
From what I know (seperate source) 24th has been discussed internally at SCEE (as of yesterday) but for the moment until they announce it the date isn't official and could change at any moment.
Sony has been saying before christmas since the delay was announced October 13th and now Patcher comes along like this is new?
Whatever, he is actually wrong about mid December, it is internally projected before this.

Yep thats correct, the statement was made at TGS over a month ago (yeah so it's old traffic hunting news) and Kaz said when you have 15 other cars in the rain at a grid start when water sprays it may dip below 60fps briefly and he apologizes.
