You can probably tell my thoughts by reading the article, but I played it on Gamecube a long time ago and had a ton of fun revisiting it on the Wii U. There's nothing quite like setting sail into the endless horizon with that great Koji Kondo music playing, which is only amplified by the pretty HD visuals.
Well the camera mechanics themselves aren't different but you no longer have to use that yellow stick on the GameCube controller so you have more control. Dual analog sticks is a big help.

In this interview he names IX as his favorite, although I think he's gone back and forth on that over the years.
Thanks for the comment. I'm the guy who wrote this review. I went back and forth on whether to give this game a ten. Everyone has a different opinion on what a 10 should be used for. At least for me, I think a ten is a perfect game since no game is without its faults. I think a ten is a game that's one of the best in its genre or one of the best games in a console generation (Chrono Trigger, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Majora's Mask, etc.)
For me, Final Fantasy IX i...

You bring up some interesting points. However, there is no way developers are going to make such a dramatic shift in exclusives vs. multiplatform games. They release their game son as many platforms as possible in order to reach the biggest audience and actually make a profit on their games.
Having all games be exclusive would encourage people to buy the 3 consoles, only the most dedicated gamers would do it for the first few years. Buying t...
Are you including the Ouya?
I'm the writer of this article and I just wanted to thank you guys for all the great comments!
Great article. I think its interesting how quickly Skyward Sword has risen to number one for some people.
Great job on the video guys. I didn't know it was so busy!
@dendenmooshi
Thanks for the comments. I love "Two Hearts Not Captured" and also think FF9 has one of the best endings. I put the vocal tracks from Final Fantasy in a seperate category from the instrumental music. I love "Melodies of Life," "Eyes on Me," and "Suteki Da Ne".
Great Podcast!
I played FFVIII to about a third of the way through the game. I enjoyed it, but the characters and battle system weren't as compelling to me as FFIX. I almost put The Man with the Machine Gun and Don't Be Afraid on the list, but I have to be selective when I only have ten spots. I also love The Extreme and Succession of Witches. I'm considering doing a similar Top Ten list for individual Final Fantasy games, and those ones would definitely be near the top for FF8.
I'm the one who wrote this article. Thanks for your kind comments. FFIX is also my favorite game in the series. Recently, I watched all the cutscenes from FFIX on youtube and I was amazed at how amazing and moving they still were over ten years later.
Great review. I look forward to more content from Tech Heads.
But something I like about Nintendo's choices with this game is they don't force you to change. You don't have to do hero mode and you don't have to buy the swift sail. Or you can buy the sail and witch it with the regular one with the touch of a button. They let both types of fans have what they want.
