If "ratchet is decent but resistance is meh," what game is it that makes you believe Insomniac is a "great dev." The truth is that both ratchet and resistance are kick-ass and that is how you know that Insomniac is a great developer, you just don't want to admit it because you are not able to play them.
Does Microsoft even have any actual first party studios? The only one I can think of is Rare. When you think of 360 exclusives you got L4D, Halo, Gears, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Mass Effect and Crackdown. Valve is setting up steam on PS3, Bungie is now with Activision, Epic games, Remedy, Ubisoft and Bioware never were first party and I don't know about Ruffian Games.
