As a hardcore classic RE1 fan, I can say that this guy's opinion does not reflect my own.
I think it's a very good effort from Capcom to regain their old fans' trust. It's a very good entry to the RE series and is not "boring" or "sloppy". The First Person view is very fun.
Try before you buy at the least, but don't buy into the negativity. It's a fine product.
