A 5x profit increase is insanity. And even with the pandemic helping it along, for AC to push that many units in a matter of months is just unreal. People wonder why Nintendo doesn’t try so hard to pump out their games, get third party support, use powerful hardware, etc...because they don’t have to.
Which sucks - for fans especially.

That’s...really impressive, actually. Great deal.

It is for people like me, with multiple kids who are messy and irresponsible. Now I can have the Switch to myself and they can have the little ones. I could care less about the feature loss as long as they are durable.

KIDS. Or rather, parents. Now I can buy my kids each their own. Hell, I would have been fine with even more cuts to get the price down more.

Four of my joycons have consistent drift problems. One of them has a analog stick button that no longer works. Another of them has a shoulder button that no longer works. If I hadn’t purchased the Mario Party joycon bundle, I would have no good joycons. That’s really inexcusable. Also, the kickstand snapped off relatively early on.
As someone who loves the Switch, I still couldn’t agree more - the build quality is bad.

Gen 8 Pokemon
Metroid Prime 4 (rumored, based on retail leak)
Bayonetta 3
Animal Crossing
Luigi’s Haunted Mansion 3
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3
Yoshi’s Crafted World

...yeah, that’s a pretty solid lineup. Metroid and new core Pokemon by themselves could pull it off.

No way in hell will it be handheld-only; defeats the entire premise/hook of the unit. However, I could see these kinds of rumors misinterpreting their sources insofar as the new Switch model is intended to succeed 3DS...I wonder if a dual screen version with backwards compatibility with 3DS might come out? And it would be cool if they could come out with a “pro” version of the dock, to boost visuals and facilitate 3rd party support.

Couldn’t the cartridge be tied to other data you download from the cloud store for installation? I’m under the impression that cartridges offer more advantage than disadvantage in terms of performances capabilities...?

I’m a Nin fan and I only buy the systems as my ticket to Nin games. I never expect 3rd party support. But hey, I’m also the type to spend $300 in order to have front and center at a Tool concert for two hours worth of memories. Zelda, Mario, etc, are just too uniquely and perpetually wonderful for me to pass up. I wish Nin was just a software company but here we are lol

Add a brand new, 10/10 Banjo Kazooie and now you’re cooking with fire.

I’m fine with this. Games have been $50-$60 for like...20 years?

I’ve enjoyed Mario games since 1988, when I was given an NES for Christmas. I was skeptical of the concept when this new one was first teased - but it is now my favorite Mario game, ever. It is a masterpiece for the genre, and a standout in Mario’s library. And can we take a moment to appreciate the score/music? It was like a Miyazaki film.

Zelda, Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart (because I missed it last time) have made the system 110% worth the investment, for me. Granted, I only JUST got Odyssey, but I already love it. If they can just spit out 3-4 first party titles a year, I’ll be a happy switcher.

Daggerfall is still my favorite, despite its technical limitations. People forget how wildly creative it was within the bounds of those limitations. Personally, I feel it was - by far - the most “RPG” of the series; the closest to a tabletop game or fantasy novel. From rolling dice to determine stats to a “choose your path” Q/A story that ultimately suggests your character class, to far more limitless experiences in getting lost, it remains very special to me. No sequel, despite obvious advan...

TES 7 for sure. Maybe even modded TES 6.

I really hope GTA 6 goes full TES/FO and let's you totally create and be your own character for the story.

Because...it's...crap...
Look, I love my Switch, but I went into it knowing what I was getting into. Nintendo sucks. They just make the best first party and handheld games.

Gotta say. I was a Switch skeptic. I certainly knew that I was paying for a limited number of first party IPs, and it's not like I have a ton of extra money. I caved and bought one. I'm extremely satisfied with the purchase, and glad I didn't wait. Hell, I'm on lunch right now and gaming. So much better than 3DS. While Nintendo continues to confuse me with their marketing choices (like marketing this as a console rather than a portable, and maintaining 3DS), having such an awe...
