making an upgradeable console is not really doable. The reason consoles exist is that they are a set piece of hardware, it never changes, so the devs know exactly what they have to work with.

Love windows 8, start up and shut down times are wonderful and its just more snappier. Having said that i do not like the metro interface as it just doesnt work with mouse or trackpad at all.
However install a third party app to reinstate a menu button and put the OS into desktop mode upon startup and you dont have to worry about metro.
Unsure about the xbox one interface until i actually use it myself, speed wise, functionality and usability.
I too didnt mind the always checking in, though 24 hours may have been too much. The issue of course, is what happens if your internet goes down for a day or longer, you then lose the ability to use the console.
If MS was a little bit bolder they could have went down the same rout e as the 3G kindle, this uses 3G to download books to the kindle, however there is no charge to use this service its part of the kindle.
If MS had something similar in the xbox one...
