In before mimic complaint: the producers were under pressure to finish the game, and we already have AT LEAST 25 different styles ;) Think about Soul Blade, we had character versions as well, and tho here we have Character Creation, the voice acting is unique and story-oriented as well.
I think this article is blowing a lot of things out of proportion, making it seem like all games that can include this or that thing seem to do so (I might give an exception to nº 3 due to the number of generic characters being too damn high). Per example, the radar system fit MGS perfectly, and its inclusion had an in-story explanation. It didn't make the game less immersive to a lot of people, why the complaint? Or the difficulty setting, the way it works changes from game to game ...

I never bought anything from benetton, doesn't mean I disagree with their ad technique. Ads rarely make me wanna buy something, reviews and people's experience does.
I cannot atest to every fighting game, but SC series requires a lot of talent. It's not just about memorizing stuff (it's not the most combo-centric fighting series), it has a lot of adaptation to it as well. Players develop styles inside each character's fighting style, and you gotta taste that real life and try to counter it in case your own way of fighting isn't working.
That's why I love the series, actually.
