This is like how they did it with MGS4/Halo 3/and various other games... The game most likely doesn't support "native" 1080P, but does have the option of using "upscaled" 1080P.
I thought that the developers already stated that the game was made to be at 720P, but not to the "golden standard" or 60FPS.

As just a PS3 owner, I personally don't mind S-E games going on the X360... But what I do mind is the various little things that S-E's says or does that basically tests PS3 owner's limits.
