The console is only $399 without the 4K player. Sony is trying to make the console as cheap for us as they can.
Cost > 4K movie player...........at least until 4K movies take off..................4K movies are no where near taking off at all. 4K tv sales will help with getting 4K movies off the ground and Sony and Microsoft are helping 4K tv sales even more with the additions of the consoles.

If you asked me one of the main differences between PC gaming and console gaming...........Mods would be number one. Doesn't bother me that mods are not coming. Buy the PC version if you wana mod. Same with GTAV. It keeps the separation between console gaming and PC gaming.............which is already dwindling away day by day. Especially when it comes to guys like Phil Spencer who is making it there number one goal to combine the two.
The 4K movie section at Best Buy is literally smaller than their CD section. Its that small. It will take years to get people to buy 4K movies just like Blu Ray was. Thank god Sony has a brain and thought of the cost of the console vs having 4K movie player........that no one would use.
. I had both of them, LOL. There were PC's back then, consoles didn't touch them then either. That's why they have always been underpowered in the world of gaming. I rocked Doom on Windows 3.1, LOL. I used to play Oregon Trail on a huge Floppy Disk as well. Before Windows 3.1 of course.
"Console only" players back then had no idea included me how well PC gaming was going.
The power of HDR..........is it more powerful than the almighty cloud? I think the two should fight. This is coming from someone that just pre ordered the PS4 Pro and paid it in full already. LOL.
Notice how all of a sudden features like HDR, "Are a big deal". Technology is a "rape your wallet" machine sometimes.
Just wait till future Pro buyers see that you can't just have any 4K tv. Specs are gonna matter for that tv for utilizing Pro's 4K capability. Input lag, refresh rate, HDR, not only having HDR but "Which" HDR is gonna matter (only two kinds that I know of). Not to mention if your getting VR on top of that. The chepest 4K tv on Black Friday..........might not cut it. Glad I waited for the 4K tv purchase. Will wait for recommended specs on that tv. Already have the Pro preorde...

Is it safe to say this was "worse game of the year" because of the hype? I haven't played it in weeks. Basically I can't find materials to repair the hyperdrive and just gave up. The game is repetitive on top of that. Maybe when they add a bunch of features I'll get back into it one day.

I'm thinking maybe Pro can help games like Just Cause 3 with frame rates. JC3 has sat on my shelf since basically launch because of that issue. I know the game can get repetitive at times, but that's when I just sit it down and play something else and then come back later. Hopefully, Pro can let it hold a solid 30 fps hopefully.

Okay, so last gen, X1 and PS4. Pre release, it was predicted that some PS4 games would outperform X1 games because of the hardware differences between the two, giving PS4 the advantage. At that time, we had official specs on both machines.
After release of the consoles, some PS4 games did outperform X1 games, not a huge number, but some, yes and even still to this day, some new multi plat games that are releasing are coming out with higher resolutions on PS4 than X1.
