Umm, all the games in the Gran Turismo series has sold as much or more than the top selling Halo game.
Of course, score wise it'll most likely be really good, as most exclusives try to push and do more than just sell a ton of copies.
But I'd rather take 3 good games than 1, and I think most people would agree with that.
Ah, nice. It'll be in the middle of the night for me (Eu), but I still might check it out.
This is an interesting article, not some random rumor blog/twitter sh*t that keeps popping up here nowadays.
It will most likely sell out faster than hotcakes, but there sure won't be a copy in my house. I couldn't stand Shinji's whining and that made it impossible for me to finish watching the anime.
How come the supposedly biggest market has the lowest sales?
I'm guessing this quote is from the E3 when they first unveiled it? Still, kinda weird that Sony gave them a non-final devkit, must've really impressed them ;D
I wonder if they only have a 1-game contract with Sony though, making an engine only for the Ps3 is a weird economic choice for a 3rd party studio. Still I prefer it over the excessive usage of UE3 that plagues this generation -_- Here's hoping CryEngine3 can make things a bit more interesting again ^^
They even got a non-final ps3 devkit, now would you give that to some guys who were going to make a multi game?
"he Casting, shown at E3 2006, is non-playable, real-time 3D prototype technology demo. It was running on a non-final PlayStation 3 console development kit in 720p display resolution." - Wikipedia
I just remembered that SO4 has not yet been released in Europe. Still, I'd imagine that even though some parts of SO3 were a huge turn-off (the twist, oh how we love it :/), I can't imagine that ~800k would just give up on the series.
Wow, trying to appeal to the western market was very ineffective. I can understand that they'd want to try but if they don't make a game in a genre popular in the West, but try to westernize JRPGs, they're bound to fail.
Ouch, 420k for Star Ocean 4... Star Ocean 3 sold 1.2 million in Japan and the US alone, and with the numbers from Europe it'd most likely be closer 1.8 at least. Therefore, it's a safe bet that we're going to get a Ps3 announcement soon, TGS at the latest.
Seems like Ms is living in a bubble, they've got to bring more. If not, that's a really poor showing and both Nintendo and Sony will steamroll them games-wise this E3. This just further proves that Ms's E3 is not about software, but hardware.
I should note that he doesn't buy his games the moment they're released though. But he did buy Street Fighter 4 for about 300 sek a month after it was released. You should check out play.com and game.co.uk, they tend to have cheap deals quite fast after releases.
Swedish here too, so yeah whenever I've bought a game here they're in English, but the cheap pound makes it impossible to resist importing ;D My brother bought a Ps3 this Christmas and he has only ordered games from the UK. The price average? 300 sek o_O
SCEE once again shows that they're so stupid that a f**king rock looks like Einstein in comparison. If it were a kiddy game I'd see why they might localise, since younger kids might not have firm grasp of the English language... but this game is 16+ @_@
I pity the fools!
What do you expect him to say, he's making a game exclusively for the Ps3, of course he'd say it wouldn't be possible on the 360, no matter if it's true or not. However, if they do use all the spu's then it's most probably true, given the extra processing power derived from them. It might not be seen in graphics but in physics, AI or other non-visual parts of the game.
Well, to get back to my point. It's not the fanboys that created this "war", it's MS and Sony, with a...
This very much explains why Sony's publishing GhostBusters in EU. And just as I thought, it seems that there really were no underhanded tactics used. You could even say Sony bailed out Atari Europe. Instead of no release at all, Atari will get some well needed cash from the Ps family. All that drama, all for nothing... still sad for those Wii and 360 owners, but they wouldn't have gotten it even if Sony hadn't stepped in... looks like none of us would had that been the case :/
Now, why would they put all that into their Entertainment Division? I think most of that money will go to advertising for Windows 7, 'cause MS can't afford it to be a fiasco like Vista. Windows is their main income, it doesn't matter how profitable the 360 becomes, if the OS side starts to go bad, they'd still be receiving the most cuts.
Do you really count PSN/XBLA as sales units shipped? The shipped would seem to imply retailing, would it not?
Seriously, that alone should make you throw that list into an incinerator.
That still doesn't answer my question now, does it?
The PSX was released in 1995 and Gran Turismo was released in mid '98 (GT2 in Dec '99). The PSX had been on market for 3 years, about the same time the Xbox is at atm.
And on to the Ps2...
Ps2 was released in '00 and GT3 was released '01. The console had only been on the market for ONE year. It was not until five years on market that it reached 100 million and if it had sold steady that means the amount of consoles sold was about 20 million at the time of the release of GT3...
