Resident Evil is different, it's a story of Biohazard incidents and there are many, many creatures other than just zombies.
Who freaking cares if they re-use properties and shit from their older games.
It's all on the same engine, it's not gonna degrade the game's quality.
It's all about the Gameplay,Story,Community,Multi player.
