Well it was planned but they never gave a definite. If they had said FF13 will be released worldwide then maybe I would agree but they were only making claims and if you know SE they always claim things but rarely do they live up to them.

Actually considering what the market when they were released was like, they sold fairly well. JRPGs will always sell more in Japan then in the west and well Japan still hasn't gotten around to liking the Xbox so there largest consumer base was denied to them. Despite this fact they were still quite successful financially. The canceling for the third if I recall was due to looking at the future of the title and market, and realizing it would not sell as well as they would like.
Tales of Vesperia was pretty good especially for a tales game but no one has mentioned Tales of Abyss. That was, imo, the best Tales game from last generation.
Star Ocean was originally an Enix published title, not Square title. As for Star Ocean 4 being exclusive, ask Tri-Ace since they are the ones making the game. Sure Square could pull an EA and force port to ps3 but if you tried playing orange box on the PS3 you know the problem with that.
You do realize that Nomura has only been doing characters since about FF VII or so and really the company could survive without Nomura.
I will give you that Infinite Undiscovery was not that good, however, Tri-Ace very frequently makes incredible JRPGs and just because of one bad game is no reason to dismiss the entire studio.
yes Prishe would have been better in my opinion as well. As for a villain well you cannot go wrong with just having Eald'narche since he was a pretty nice and kinda challenging boss fight and he had a little more depth to him then some of the other villains in FFXI.
I don't know about not seeing another good game from them. Many could argue that they hit there zenith on the SNES but they still did well and they put out some quality games on the PSX and PS2. The thing is though at the time they were just Squaresoft and Enix was another company that directly competed with them. I thought the list was a flame bait article. To say that VII did not deserve nostalgia because VI was better is pretty foolish. It is very hard to compare masterpieces and even if one (VI) is better then another (VII). In the end they are both masterpieces and VII should not be chastised just because its predecessor was better.
Thinks he was talking about the Final Fantasy spin-offs rather then the sequels. I mean the website is clearly a square fan site so I don't think he was bashing Final Fantasy's main games but rather the spin-offs. Well they could but then we would not get other possible masterpieces from them. A new IP means a chance to be a new franchise that we will be getting games from for years to come. Also I still am hoping that they return to the Chrono series for at least one more game to fill in all the loose holes. Its been a long time so its unlikely but you never know
Well this is a tricky thing to say about whether 11 was better then 10. A lot of people have stated that had Chains of Promathia was one of the greatest FF story lines, up there with 4,6,7 ect. I myself fall in the crowed that did enjoy FF 11 more then 10 if we just looked at storyline that is.
