The real question is why would Sony fear Nintendo ? Unless if Nintendo is planning to sell new IP games for the hardcore audience.

@RexDD You obviously didn't read the whole thing. It clearly states that Activision gave all their trademarks to Bank of America for some extra credit on their account but they still get to use the IP and trademarks, so long as they keep making their bank payments. If Activision messes up, then Bank of America will take all of the trademarks and IP and would probably sell them off to whoever the highest bidder would be.
Sony has convinced a lot of the Wii audience over to PS4. That's why Nintendo is losing some consumers.
